Join us on May 24 at 4:00 pm for “Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Community Resilience in Action,” featuring Roy Pitts, Coordinator of the Point Reyes Disaster Council (Cuerpos de Desastres de Point Reyes).
In a region shaped by fire, flood, and storm, the Point Reyes Disaster Council has become a vital thread of connection, organizing residents to be the first line of response when emergencies arise. Through neighborhood networks, communication systems, and volunteer training, this work reflects a simple but profound truth: in moments of crisis, we belong to one another.
Roy Pitts will share how this grassroots effort equips communities to respond with clarity and compassion, offering a vision of resilience grounded not only in preparedness, but in relationship. From neighborhood liaisons serving as the “eyes and ears” during emergencies, to teams trained in sheltering, medical response, and animal care, this is a story of people choosing to stand ready for one another.
This conversation invites us to consider what it means to love our neighbors not only in word, but in practice: to prepare, to notice, and to act when it matters most.
This event is free and open to all.
Donations to support the work of Point Reyes Disaster Council are welcome.
