ECOLOGY  VISION  COUNCIL

STEWARDING GOD'S CREATION THROUGH SPIRITUAL PRACTICE, SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE AND COMMUNITY-WIDE COLLABORATION

EMBODYING CHRIST THROUGH OUR LOVE AND GUARDIANSHIP OF CREATION

THE SCOPE OF THE EVC

In terms of structure, in our first 2 years as a council, our remit is as follows:

- St. Columba's in-house/on-site environmental sustainability/best practices
(Lead by Carl and Anna)

- Community-oriented Eco-Education/Spirituality
(Lead by Father Vincent and Lisa)

- Alliances with local, environmental groups in the Point Reyes area
(Lead by Sylvia)

- Liaison with/implementation of Diocese-led, Creation Care initiatives
(Lead by TBD)

A WORD FROM THE VICAR

The Rev. Vincent Pizzuto

We need to narrate the arc of the EVC’s evolution and creation. Thus, a statement from Father Vincent (FV), articulating its necessity in our ecological moment and the reason he asked me to head it up as its director (or whatever we might call me). My title is TBD. FV has some interesting things to say about his vision for the council as a council (versus committee), as do I.

A WORD FROM THE

EVC DIRECTOR

Lisa DaSilva

What I want to say still about my own allurement to creating the council still needs to be fleshed out (TBD), but fundamentally, I see it as the place-holder and anchor for all things ecological, environmental and sustainable as it relates to our St. Columba's community. Plus, the EVC is a Vision Council because although it will oversee the implementation of actionable, environmental endeavors, it will also be the strategic lynch-pin, setting visionary goals for St. Columba's Life-And-Earth-Love, in action.

"A Christian who doesn't safeguard creation, who doesn't make it flourish, is a Christian who isn't concerned with God's work, that work born of God's love for us."
